What I Read in August/September

August/September Reading Wrap Up Top Books I read this month that are not on the Friends and Gilmore Girls TBR I am doing with Kathleen.  All For You:   This book is by the same author as Wild For You and is the first book in her Romancing Manhattan trilogy.  It was selected for the TBR because of the  NYC setting.  Wild For You will be reviewed on December 5th. A Witch’s Guide To Magical Inn Keeping:  This sequel to  The Very Secret Society Of Irregular Witches was released in June.  Other reviews I’ve seen in of it on Youtube have been pretty mixed but I really enjoyed it.  It was a very cozy read , perfect for the Halloween Season. The Innkeeper character reminded me of Sookie.  Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine: What Eleanor goes through with her mom makes me think of Monica’s relationship with her mom Judy throughout the series. Flirting Lessons  This was Jasmine Guilroy’s new release from February. I loved the dynami...

Book/Movie/Musical Comparison Freaky Friday

I’d have to say that this movie is a pretty decent adaptation of the book by Mary Rodgers.  Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis were perfectly cast as Anna and Tess.   One sweet scene in the movie is when Anna goes to the parent/teacher conference for Harry in her mother's body and finds out that Harry wrote an essay for class about her about how much he loves her. I love the theme in both this film and thre recent seuqel Freakier Friday about seeing things from the other person's perspective and how it changes your point of view. Anna's brother is absent from Freakier Friday and I sort of wondered what happened to him. My favorite scene in Freakier Friday is when Anna is awkwardly fliting with Jake when her body is switched with her daughter Harper's. The musical has completely character from the book and films though the plot in regards to getting. ready for the wedding. Katherine, who is the replacement for Tess in the musical is wedding planner which ...

Hi Everyone, Summer has kept me busy  so I figured I'd take this opportunity to talk about some books  in the past couple  months First up is A Thousand Splendid Suns  by  Kahleed Hussieni. This book was on my secondary TBR of books that were published during the time that Friends and Gilmore Girls was airing being published  in  the final season of Gilmore Girls in 2007.  This book  is a history of Afghanistian from the 1970s to the Taluban invasion in 2001.   It was a powerful and emotuinal story of  friendship and love amongst the background of all the devastation of war.   I never knew anything about Afghanistan's history  prior to the event of the Taliban invasion so that's what  keept me engaged.   Next up we have Beach Read   by Emily Henry, Of all Emily Henry's books January is the female lead I connect the most  with because she is a writer and I dealt with the writer's blo...
