 One Golden Summer

One of my current reads is  Carley Fortune's new release from last month One Golden Summer. She has this magical way of tansporting to places in Canada.. in specific to this series.. Barry's Bay.

The book that precedes  this one is called Every Summer After, The main male character in this book Charlie is best friends with Sam the male main character in  Every Summer After.   I much prefer Alice and Charlie over Percy and Sam because their relationship was easier to support.  One trope I hate in romance books is the miscommuication trope and  Percy and Sam's relationship is riddled wirh it all throghout Every Summer After.  I loved Alice as a main character and found myself connecting to her very easily because she is an artist.. primarily a photographer.  The main type of art I like to do is abstract art but photography and creative writing are my other two favorite mediums I work in, 

Alice creates a summer bucket list at the beginning of the book and a few things on her bucket list are pretty similar to me.  I am hopong to experiment with  different mediums this summer to expand my repetroire  for next semesters art show at Double House Arts.. maybe I may take some photographs to include..  i am not sure yet.  The second thing on my summer bucket list that is similar to Alice's is  throw myself a birthday party..  It will be an epic party by the way.  I am turning 40 after all. 

The  Friends character that Alice is most like is Monica because she is a people pleaser. I am very much like this as well but am working on ways to over come it.

Books I read this summer

Hi Everyone, Summer has kept me busy  so I figured I'd take this opportunity to talk about some books  in the past couple  months First up is A Thousand Splendid Suns  by  Kahleed Hussieni. This book was on my secondary TBR of books that were published during the time that Friends and Gilmore Girls was airing being published  in  the final season of Gilmore Girls in 2007.  This book  is a history of Afghanistian from the 1970s to the Taluban invasion in 2001.   It was a powerful and emotuinal story of  friendship and love amongst the background of all the devastation of war.   I never knew anything about Afghanistan's history  prior to the event of the Taliban invasion so that's what  keept me engaged.   Next up we have Beach Read   by Emily Henry, Of all Emily Henry's books January is the female lead I connect the most  with because she is a writer and I dealt with the writer's blo...

Emma. A TV/Book/Film Comparison

  Much like Pride and Prejudice what I liked the best about Emma was the atmosphere in London. I felt like I was traveling back to the 1800s.  The 1996 TV movie also has a very picturesque setting that made feel like I was in a place I have never been.    With Clueless I love how Amy Heckerling modernized Emma for the 1990s generation with Cher Horowitz who was played by Alicia Silverstone in  the lead role.  In Clueless I loved how Cher and Dionne played matchmaker with their teachers. I thought the dynamic between the relationship between the two teachers was adorable.   As If An Oral History of Clueless provided nice insigt into the making of the film. My favorite part of this book was when they talked about the costume design.  One thing I did not like about Clueless was how  Cher develops a crush on her step brother  Josh who was played by Paul Rudd.   Matt and I also watched the episode from  the TV show One For The Ro...

Looking for a good summer read? Happy Place is it

 Happy Place by Emily Henry centers around a group of college friends who are at their last summer getaway at their friend Sabrina’s summer home in Knot’s Harbor, Maine. This is a multi point of view story where past POVs focus on the group’s adventures and the present day POV  focuses on the fact that our main characters Wyn and Harriet are trying to hide the fact thar their engagement has been broken off from the rest of their friends. I come to this book for the Maine setting and the vibes this group of friends has with each-other, it very much reminds me of the friend group that I had  when I lived in New Hampshire. The constant miscommunication between Wyn and Harriet drives me completely insane and made me want to DNF with each reread. Out of all the characters in the friend group the person I found myself relating to is Sabrina.
