Friends Lovers And The Big Thing Terrible Review

Matthew Perry’s memoir Friends Lovers And The Big Terrible Thing was very powerful and it made me emotional. I prefer the audiobook over the physical book since he narrated it. Even though I never met him in person I feel like I grew closer to him by the end of the book. I think it was very kind of him to turn his house into a sober living house for other addicts. I felt like I had a backstage pass to my favorite show when he talked about his experiences on Friends. I felt very sad for him that he was so lonely. It is evident both in Friends  and 17 Again that he would have been a great father. The scene where Mike talks to Maggie in his teenage body comforting her about her break up with Stan hits especially harder since both Matthew Perry and Michelle Tractenberg have passed away. Trachtenberg passed away in March from complications with her liver due to diabetes Matty mentions how Fools Rush In is his favorite movie that he ever did. It is my favorite movie of his too. The three reasons for this are the cinematography in the scene where Alex and Isabel are sitting together looking over the canyon, his over all chemistry with Selma Hayek and the scenes he shares with his father Mr. John Bennett Perry.

If I could ask Matthew Perry anything it would be if he ever saw the 17 Again Musical and if he liked the cast album. We played Love You Til Forever on our radio show a few weeks ago and I thought it was a beautiful song. 17 Again was on Broadway a few years ago but I do not think it was very popular because it was not nominated for any Tony awards that year.

Matty, Happy Birthday sweetie. Thanks for checking in on me, I love you.

This is the final time I am reviewing this memoir as reviewing it has caused me much emotional distress behind the scenes of producing the videos for the blog
