Reviews. The Book Thief and The Book Club For Troublesome Women
Book Review of The Book Thief by Marcus Zuzak
This book gave me a lot of mixed emotions. Like many books about the Holocaust it made me very sad but at the same time in all the bleakness it was refreshing to read from our main character Liesel’s point of view. I loved the development of Max’s relationship with Liesel as well. In regards to Liesel’s relationship with Rudy I view their dynamic more as siblings than as a romantic couple. They were very sweet.
Kathleen and I buddy read The Book Club For Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick for our January TBR. This book focuses on Margaret. who starts a book club with her neighbors Charlotte, Bitsy and Viv. These four women are housewives in the 1960s and in their book club they read the book The Feminine Mystique.
While this book has no connection to the Friends TBR I found this book discussion that Margaret, Bitsy, Charlotte and Viv have about The Feminine Mystique is similar to the discussion Phoebe, Monica and Rachel have in S2 Ep 19 The One Where Joey Moves out about Be Your Own WindKeeper. These books have similar themes about finding your own power as a woman and finding dominance in relationships.
I would say my friends from NH and my Doublehouse Arts freinds are my village because. they are always supportive of me and help me difficult times.
I gave The Book Club For Troublesome Women 4.5 stars.
